Regents Classes

Exams we offer as part of the New York State (NYS) Regents Examinations:

  • The Algebra 1 Regents Exam is a standardized test administered in New York State (NYS). The test is typically taken by students in grades 8 or 9, depending on their math track, and it covers fundamental algebra concepts aligned with the NYS Common Core standards. Topics include solving equations, functions, inequalities, statistics, and problem-solving, which are essential skills for higher-level math courses.
  • The English Language Arts (ELA) Regents Exam is a standardized test given to high school students in New York State (NYS) . This exam is typically taken in 11th grade and assesses students' reading, writing, and analytical skills in alignment with the NYS Common Core standards. The test includes reading comprehension, analysis of fiction and non-fiction texts, and essay writing, which are all essential skills for college and career readiness.
  • The U.S. Government Regents Exam (sometimes combined as part of a course or exam with U.S. History in New York State) assesses high school students' understanding of American government, foundational documents, and civic principles. Typically taken in 11th or 12th grade as part of social studies graduation requirements, it covers the structure of the U.S. government, the Constitution, Supreme Court cases, and other civic topics that are crucial for informed citizenship.

Why Should Your Child Participate?

Participating in the Regents Exam in 8th grade can be a valuable opportunity for students ready for advanced academic challenges.  It can help with high school admissions, where competitive high schools consider academic achievement in their selection criteria.
